About the Library

Library Accessibility

The DVC Library is dedicated to providing access and services to all members of the DVC Community.

Elevators: All floors of the library are accessible by elevator.

Photocopying:  Patrons unable to use the copier may bring materials to the Circulation Desk for photocopying by library staff.

Restrooms: Rest rooms on all floors can accommodate patrons with disabilities.

Assistive Technology

Student computers in the DVC Library offer a number of adaptive technologies which can help DSS students access and use content for DVC classes.

Kurzweil 3000: Enables conversion of print to electronic text, which can be read to the user. The program also offers a variety of study skills tools to make learning easy.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.0: Allows users to dictate and edit documents and emails using voice technology. Works with many Windows programs including Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. To use Dragon Naturally Speaking, ask for the library laptop at the circulation desk. This application is not installed on all library computers.

Inspiration: A tool used to visualize, think, organize and learn.

Zoomtext 9.0: Allows users to enlarge and enhance everything on a computer screen.

Jaws 9.0: Screen reader software reads aloud what is on the computer screen.
