How to access and use eBooks from the DVC Library.

Welcome to the eBooks guide!

The DVC Library has many more books than what you can find on our shelves. This guide will show you step-by-step instructions for searching, reading, and downloading items from our eBook collections.

Finding eBooks

Finding eBooks is easy! Most of our eBooks are listed in the DVC Catalog.

1. To find only eBooks, use the Advanced Search feature, and select "eBooks" under "material type."

2. In your search results, you know you're looking at an eBook when you see this picture:
and the words "electronic resource" in the title. "Online" and "Internet" are other clues it's an eBook.

3. Click on the book's title to view the book's description, then click on "Connect to this electronic book" to open it up.

4. What next? That depends on who provides the eBooks to us -- currently we have eBooks from EBSCO and Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Find books / eBooks in the Library Catalog

Search the library catalog for books, ebooks, and streaming videos:

My library account | Search course reserves

If you are not in the library, you can still access the full-text of ebooks and watch streaming videos linked from the library catalog.

Remember that books tend to be about broader subjects, so if you have trouble finding books that relate to your topic, try broadening your search terms.

For example, if <sophomores> doesn't give you relevant results, try <undergraduates> or <college students>.
